Adult Day Program

Adult Day program is a social and recreational program in a supervised setting. The program is for a range of adults, including those who may have physical and/or memory challenges, those living with chronic illness and the frail or elderly. It also supports individuals coping with loss of independence, cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s, dementia, and physical and mental disabilities.

Assisted Living Services

The Assisted Living services for High Risk Seniors program has been developed to address the needs of high-risk seniors so that they are able to remain safely at home. The services provided are personal support, homemaking, care coordination and security checks or reassurances services, with visits within a 24-hour period in a scheduled and unscheduled model. An applicant shall meet the eligibility criteria required to receive these services.

Congregate Dining

Community Dining programs provide opportunities for seniors in the community to join one another for a meal and companionship. This program consists of social outings once or twice a month at various restaurants in the area. Volunteers are available for transportation and the cost is limited to menu items being ordered.

Friendly Visiting

The Friendly Visiting program aims to help seniors stay in their homes longer by reducing isolation and increasing their health and safety.  Friendly visiting is one-on-one, personal visits by a trained Canadian Red Cross volunteer for an hour, at least once every two weeks, for seniors who find it difficult to leave their homes.  Companionship is the key – depending on their interests, the pair may chat, play a game, do a craft or discuss the news.

Matches eligible clients with individuals or businesses that provide affordable yard maintenance and snow removal services to a senior’s home.

Home cleaning – $12.00 per hour

Grass cutting – $18.00 per mow (based on regular size lot)

Meals on Wheels

The Meals on Wheels program delivers affordable, nutritious and delicious meals to members of the community who are unable to prepare their own food. Meals on Wheels helps people continue living independently while maintaining a healthy diet.

The safety aspect of this program helps ensure peace of mind for family members. Clients can receive calls daily, weekly, bi-weekly or even monthly depending on the client’s wishes.

Transportation

The Canadian Red Cross provides transportation service for those in need, such as elderly or disabled in the community, who are unable to use public transportation or private means. Our service keeps people connected in their community by providing affordable transportation to social gatherings, escorts to medical appointments or even for a shopping excursion.
